So, a few partiers are still straggling in after the big blowout yesterday. You know how to get your party on, don't you? :wink:
Two days left in the anniversary, and then I'll be posting the winners on the 31st. I have all the entries from the previous days (thank you, Gmail!) so there's no troubles there.
Today I want to celebrate Samhain Publishing and my editor Anne Scott. She's been the most amazing person to work with. From that first acceptance letter to now she's pushed me to become stronger. To make the stories more complete. I don't know what I would have done without her, although I do miss having to give up all those '...' and 'that' and 'ly' words.
In honour of Anne, today's prize is an ebook copy of one of these four books she's edited. Three are established authors at Samhain, and one, Marian Perera, is a new writer who Anne picked her book from the slush pile.
Fairytales do come true, and Anne is one of those people who make it happen. Thanks so much, for everything, Anne.
(BTW, I've had a chance to read Before the Storm, and I'll be posting a review/squeal on release day. Very enjoyable story.)

When I was growing up I was big into fairy tales... princes and dragons, unicorns and princesses. My favorite author was Piers Anthony.

Oh my goodness.... Favourite author? I have no idea. I read Sweet Valley High, Baby Sitters Club, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys...and then I started picking up my mom's books. Got into Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts (who I still love), etc.
And yes, I agree, you rock Viv, making the server blow! :D

Tough question, but as soon as I read it my mind went to Kathleen Woodiwiss. When I found out she was from Minnesota (like me) that made it more exciting.

My favorite books growing up...well, I loved so many, but my first favorite author was, without a doubt, Madeleine L'Engle. I think I've read everything she's written, even though there are a LOT of books. There are lots of other authors I picked up around 10 or 11 (Mercedes Lackey, Anne McCaffrey, Tamora Pierce) but Madeleine L'Engle was the first.
Errmm well there were a couple...Judy Blume, Enid Blyton, Agatha Christie, Barbara Cartland, Gardner "Perry Mason" series, can't remember author but Hardy Boys series.

There were a ton, including Beverly Cleary, Noel Streatfield, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Betsy MacDonald, C.S. Lewis, and more :) I've loved reading for a loooong time!

I had so many favorite books but the authors I turned to most were Beverly Cleary, Judy Blume, Laura Ingalls Wilder (talk about a love story), Carolyn Keene/Franklin W Dixon, and V.C. Andrews.
I started reading romance as a preteen. So, my favorite authors were Penny Jordan, Anne Mather, Carole Mortimer and Jude Devereux.
I started out with Bobbsey Twins and Nancy Drew. Then I got into Victoria Holt and Mary Stewart.
When I was little, my favorite author was Maurice Sendak.
In elementary school my fave reads were the Bobbsey Twins. In junior high, I didn't read much outside of school. In high school I rediscovered reading around the same time I discovered the sci-fi/fantasy section of the library. Faves became Anne McCaffrey, Alan Dean Foster and Piers Anthony. And they were great ones to pick I guess, as they are all still releasing new books. All of them have had new releases within the last year and all have at least one more coming out this year.

I'm not really sure who my first author was I know I use to read Victoria Holt, Phyllis A. Whitney and Agatha Christie.

I loved MISTS OF AVALON by Marion Zimmer Bradley and CLAN OF THE CAVE BEAR by Jean M Auel. - these and any thing about Knights, Dragons, Mythology made reading awesome!!!!

Was trying to rack my brain to remember, since it was been a looong time ago, lol.
Madeleine L'Engle, Phyllis Whitney, Victoria Holt, Laura Engalls Wilder, all the Nancy Drew stories, then graduated up to Barbara Cartland, Georgette Heyer, and ultimately Kathleen Woodiwiss, who got me hooked on erotic romances.
I was not into reading much as a kid, but when I started to really read I was hooked by Catherine Coulter...
Louisa May Allcot was a great favorite of mine as a child.
For my big girl books, I loved Kathleen Woodiwiss. She was my first romance author and I thought her books were amazing. Books that my mom preferred I read, and that I also enjoyed, were the Nancy Drew Mysteries by Carolyn Keene.
